Stjepan Mestrovic - Texas A&M University
Stjepan Mestrovic is Professor of Sociology at Texas A&M University. He
holds a Bachelor’s and two Master’s degrees from Harvard University (in Education and Theology), and a PhD in Sociology from Syracuse University. His main area of expertise and publications is classical social theory, particularly the works of Emile Durkheim, Thorstein Veblen and William James.
He has published numerous scholarly articles and seventeen books on various topics in social theory and culture. In the past decade, Mestrovic has conducted research on and published in the area of war crimes, particularly the Abu Ghraib trials, Operation
Iron Triangle, and most recently, gruesome killings in Afghanistan. Examples of his recent work are
