Dr. Allan Carlson is President of the
Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society
. He holds his Ph.D. in Modern European History from Ohio University. He is editor of the monthly monograph series,
The Family in America
.
His nine books include
The Swedish Experiment in Family Politics: The Myrdals and the Interwar Population Crisis
(1990),
The New Agrarian Mind
(2000),
The 'American Way': Family and Community in the Shaping of the American Identity
(2003), and
Conjugal America: On the Public Purposes of Marriage
(Autumn 2006).
Through appointment by President Ronald Reagan, he served on The National Commission on Children from 1988 to 1993. He is currently International Secretary for The World Congress of Families IV (Warsaw, Poland, 11- 13 May 2006) and a Contributing Editor to
