The Social Costs of Pornography: A Statement of Findings and Recommendations has been released. It is the fruit of a meeting hosted by the
Witherspoon Institute and cosponsored by STI and
The Institute for the Psychological Sciences. This December 2008 Experts Meeting in Princeton provided a forum for discussion and debate for a wide range of scholars, including sociologists, feminists, doctors, philosophers, lawyers and ethicists.
The participants concluded that the consequences of pornography are pervasive. Their published statement is intended to increase awareness of the problem and to spark a cultural conversation about the true nature of pornography and the consequences of its ubiquity.
