Lecturer in Twentieth Century British Civilisation. 

Dr Bertrand's research interests include the history of British photography in the 20th century as well as the role photography played in the activism of the 1960s. Her teaching covers British history from the 18th century to the present day, as well as modern British photography. Publications include "Photography and the Representation of the Miners' Strike: Extension of the Conflict"  in Ici notre défaite a commencé: la grève des mineurs britanniques (1984-1985), (Syllepses, 2016) and "London – New York: the Crossover of a Modernist Conception of Photography", in Londres – New York : échanges, influences, croisements dans les arts et la littérature (Éditions Universitaires de Lorraine, 2012)
