Manuel Martín Algarra (born in Granada, Spain, in 1963) is Professor at the School of Communication of the University of Navarra where he is Associate Dean since 2008.
His field is communication theory and he is especially interested in the philosophical approach to the reality of communication, the discussion of its symbolic, social and interactional nature. Although his approach to communication comes from Phenomenology, he is as well interested in the different concepts and traditions of communication theory and research. He also focuses on communication as a field, its disciplinary nature and history and foundations for interdisciplinary.
He consider Public communication as an excellent situation to study communication on the basis of its nature: a given freely situation to overcome the anonymity and the individual differences, improving the community and the social integration, building cultures, etc.
