Children in Scotland
Marion Macleod is Senior Policy and Parliamentary Officer at Children in Scotland, the national network organization for the children’s sector in Scotland. After graduating with an MA in Modern History from Glasgow University, she held various volunteer and paid jobs before training as a social worker at Edinburgh University.
Initially employed as a practitioner in a deprived community in Edinburgh, she moved on to specialize in planning and development of children’s services. Recently she has led the way integrating children’s services in Edinburgh and has managed major programs of structural change, partnership working and early intervention. Over the years, she has participated in many national committees and working groups covering a diverse range of issues in children's services. She has been integrally involved in the development and implementation of the Scottish Government’s National Parenting Strategy, and is currently engaged in developing support for equal parenting for fathers and empowering parents of disabled children. She is the co-chair of Eurochild’s Family and Parenting Support Thematic Working Group.
